I don't have an M1 Mac so I can't say for sure, but my initial impression is that an M1 MacBook Pro is probably faster than an equivalent Intel MacBook Pro 13". TensorFlow seems to be supported on the M1 chip's GPU with the tensorflow_macos fork, so I'd imagine that this gives a significant bump over the CPU-only TensorFlow training on Intel or PlaidML acceleration using the Intel Interated graphics. I doubt that the M1 chip stacks up against a machine with a dedicated GPU and PlaidML like the 16" MacBook Pro, however.
